Get your lederhosen ready because the Chicago German-American Fest is back, and it’s better than ever! From September 8th to 10th, 2023, Lincoln Square, at the corner of Lincoln and Western, will be the place to be for a weekend of German-inspired festivities that promise fun for all ages. Here’s your guide to this year’s free celebration.

Friday Night Kickoff – Food, Music, and More

  • When: Friday, September 8th, from 5 pm to 11 pm.
  • What to Expect: The party starts at 5 pm with a fantastic opening ceremony at 8 pm. Enjoy delicious German food, beer, and wine while being entertained by live music. It’s the perfect way to kick off the weekend.
Saturday Parade at Oktoberfest

Saturday – A Day Packed with Fun

  • When: Saturday, September 9th, from noon to 11 pm.
  • Highlight: Don’t miss the spectacular Steuben Parade at 2 pm, a must-see event that showcases the vibrant German-American community in Chicago. After the parade, indulge in more food, drinks, and lively music.

Sunday – A Day of Tradition and Family Fun

  • When: Sunday, September 10th, from noon to 10 pm.
  • Morning Highlight: Start your day with the German Mass Service at 11 am, a cherished tradition.
  • Afternoon Highlight: Stick around for traditional singing and dancing groups from Chicago performing on stage at 2 pm.

German Hospitality in Two Tents

Enjoy the warm and welcoming atmosphere of two German tents serving up authentic German cuisine and traditional drinks throughout the festival.

Live Entertainment & Family Friendly Fun

Entertainment at Oktoberfest

With four bands providing fantastic music throughout the weekend, you’ll be thoroughly entertained. Plus, there’s something for everyone, including an amusement section filled with carnival games, making it the perfect spot to create cherished memories with your little ones.
