From impressionist paintings to archeological artifacts to scientific adventures, Chicago has some of the most exciting museums in the world. There’s no better time to visit than during the upcoming free museum days.
Art Institute of Chicago
World-renowned for its expansive collection, the Art Institute features the works of Hopper, Monet, Seurat, and Van Gogh, to name a few. The newest exhibitions include Morris and Company: The Business of Beauty and Senju’s Waterfall. Museum visitors can take a closer look at Morris & Co.’s beautifully designed textiles and Senju’s experiential installation for a limited time in 2022. Admission to the museum will be free for Illinois residents on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays till March 17. The museum also offers free admission every day for Chicago teens under 18, children under 14, active-duty military, Illinois educators, and LINK and WIC cardholders.
The Field Museum is beloved for immersive, awe-inspiring exhibitions such as Evolving Planet, The Ancient Americas, and Inside Ancient Egypt. Museum of Science and Industry
Tornados, Tesla coals, futuristic robots—it’s hard to find more interactive exhibitions than the ones at the Museum of Science and Industry. Don’t miss the Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition—the longest-running exhibition of African American art, ranging from paintings, drawings, fine art prints, sculpture, mixed media, ceramics, and photography. Illinois residents can receive free admission on January 24, 25, 26, and 31; February 1, 2, 7, 8, 9,11, 13, 14, and 16; and on March 1,2,7,13, and 14.
