Celebrate 30 years of Oktoberfest in Chicago with authentic food, drinks, and entertainment from The Berghoff.

Since 1985, The Berghoff has been hosting their Oktoberfest. The three-day outdoor celebration includes food, beer, and live music. Don’t worry about the short celebration as the party continues inside The Berghoff restaurant through October.

The Berghoff tries to keep it as authentic as possible with dishes like bratwurst, barbecue chicken, smoked sausage, corn on the cob, Bavarian soft pretzels, and apple strudel. However, vegans and those who eat gluten-free will have options too like quinoa and grilled vegetable salad and German pork stew. Of course you can’t forget The Berghoff’s private-label Oktoberfest beer, which tends to be the star. Last year, they went through 35,000 beers, 12,000 brats, and 7,000 pretzels.

Being that it’s the 30th anniversary, there will be an Eighties Night on Thursday, Sept. 17 where you are encouraged to break out your ’80s gear and rock out to some retro tunes. In addition, make sure you pay attention to The Berghoff’s Facebook page as they are having and Eighties Trivia Challenge where you get a chance to win one of their 30-year commemorative gift bags. Make sure to also buy a 30th Anniversary Beer Stein as proceeds from those sales will go to the Mercy Home for Boys & Girls.

For some authentic German sounds you can enjoy Alpine Thunder daily at the festival. However, there will be some American tunes as well provided by Spoken Four, Sixteen Candles, and Semple.

The Berghoff Oktoberfest kicks off Wednesday, Sept. 16 through Friday, Sept. 18 at Federal Plaza located at Adams St. and Dearborn St. Berghoff Restaurant, where month-long celebrations will take place, is located at 17 West Adams. For more information visit theberghoff.com/oktoberfest-in-chicago.
