Welcome 2016 With These Great Performers

Share

Nothing is better than laughing into the new year and there’s no one better than one of the hottest comedians of 2015, John Oliver. While “The Daily Show” has had a replacement after Jon Stewart’s retirement we all know the real heir to Stewart’s political comedy is John Oliver. With his show on HBO, “Last Week Tonight,” Oliver has been continuing the satirical comedy we loved Stewart for but with it being on HBO it’s much more biting and with his British influence is much more global.

John Oliver

We continue to elevate these young soul-singing posers because they’re easy to market, but if you want even better vocals and soul then look no further than Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings. If you’re thinking you’ve heard of the Dap-Kings before it’s because they were the session musicians on Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” album, and Sharon Jones is one of the many soul singers and artists who are finally getting the recognition they deserve even if it’s later in life.
Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings
House of Blues, 329 N. Dearborn

Dec. 31 at 10 p.m.
Tickets start at $75
