Serge Maheu’s Passge exhibit will be coming to Navy Pier on December 7th through January 6th. Come walk through this row of rings while experiencing all the light and sounds that come with it. This fascinating exhibit will be on Navy Pier’s South Dock and will allow everyone to walk through to experience the beautiful multi-sensory exhibit.

In partnership with Illuminart, Serge Maheu created this exhibit through the concept of the word passage. According to Serge’s website this exhibit represents “The act of moving through or past something on the way from one place to another, and also the process of transition from one state to another in a temporal dimension.” This is how Maheu describes the concept behind the word passage and how he used this concept to create the rings. There are also many different color combinations and sound effects that will play throughout the time you are there. The idea is for the colors and sounds to give you different vibes.

Maheu also thought about the idea of life and death when creating this piece. He wanted to create a concept for the moment between life and death so he talked to people who have had near death experiences. They talked about feeling security warmth and the presence of light. He then took these feelings into consideration when creating Passage. Giving you the ambience of what they felt.
