It looks like summer is gone and people are angry. If seeing sweaters for sale at all the stores on Michigan Ave. makes you want to punch something, then release some of that rage and jam out to some amazing bands at Riot Fest.

What started out as a collection of punk shows at different venues has turned into a massive three-day festival bringing some of the best rock and hip hop groups to Douglas Park. The lineup this year seems to be bands who were never or are no longer on the radio but deserve to be more than what is on it right now. With acts like No Doubt, System of a Down, Modest Mouse, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Coheed and Cambria, and Taking Back Sunday, Riot Fest is a ’90s kid’s dream.

Other artists performing include Thrice, Billy Idol, Tenacious D, Damian and Stephen Marley, Merle Haggard, Slightly Stoopid, Cypree Hill, Against Me, and literally too many more to mention. This throwback group of acts is probably one of the best and most diverse of the summer.

However, the lineup isn’t the only thing special about Riot Fest. Make sure to ride the Ferris Wheel, get on the other carnival rides, let your jaw drop at the sideshow performers, and cheer on your favorite Lucha Libre fighter at the festival.

Riot Fest will take place Sept. 11 – 13 at Douglas Park located at 1401 S. Sacramento Dr. For more information and tickets visit riotfest.org/chicago.
