On Thursday, October 20th, the Lincoln Park neighborhood is hosting an Art Night. This is the first event that was created to celebrate art institutions specifically in the Lincoln Park area. If you want to support local artists, then this is the place to do it.
Six different art locations are coming together to display the talents of those artists in the area. The artists are sometimes overlooked, so this is the opportunity to show their artwork. The institutions include Madron Gallery, Leslie Wolfe Gallery, Wrightwood 659, DePaul Art Museum, Josh Moulton Fine Art Gallery, and gallery 1871.
Artists and curators will discuss their shows/ work. This will allow you to meet them and even give you a chance to dive deeper into the art world. The art programs and artist are:
Solo(s): Krista Franklin & A Natural Turn: María Berrío, Joiri Minaya, Rosana Paulino, and Kelly Sinnapah Mary – DePaul Art Museum
Palette & Palate – Madron Gallery
The First Homosexuals: Global Depictions of a New Identity, 1869-1930 & Michiko Itatani: Celestial Stage & We Shall Defy: Shahidul Alam – Wrightwood 659*
Reinvention: New Work by Connie Noyes and Mary Rousseaux – gallery 1871
Downtown Paintings, Photo-Realism & Urban Landscape – Josh Moulton Fine Art Gallery
Art is / Always Will Be / Old Town – Leslie Wolfe Gallery
On top of that, all these art programs have recently opened, so you could be the first ones to experience that. There will be free trolleys offering services for three hours. The event goes from 5:30 until 8:30 pm. Masks and proof of vaccination are required to enter Wrightwood 659. To register click here.
