Gussie’s Handmade Italian Now Open!

Looking for a new restaurant to try or maybe just in the mood for Italian? Gussie’s Handmade Italian is now open! Previously known as Two Lights Seafood & Oyster the owners have re-concepted their restaurant to feel more at home and find inspiration from their heritage.

Co-owner David Thate says “Gussies’ is a project of passion” the passion coming from their grandmother Augusta or “Gussie” as the family called her. Growing up watching his grandmother cook left an imprint on David and with his love for Italian cuisine led him to starting this project, along with honoring his grandmother in the process.

Having traveled throughout Italy studying the cuisine and finding the best techniques and ingrediants, David Thate wanted to stand out when composing Gussies’ menu. Ranging from handmade pasta dishes to handmade italian sausage, the goal that Gussies’ has achieved is being authentic, which for them means using the freshest imported ingredients as well as an extensive imported drinks menu full of Italian beer and wine.

“Sharing fresh food with family and friends” has been a joy of David’s even before opening Gussies’, the environment is meant to make you feel at home. Making you feel as if you’re dining with Gussie herself, as many of the recipes and ingredients used were inspired by her cooking.

Having just opened on September 4th Gussies’ has limited hours so make sure to head over to their website to find the best time to make a reservation. If you can’t find time to dine in, Gussies’ is also offering online and curbside orders featuring their entire dine in menu items.
