This yearly holiday market unites European traditions that were brought locally to Chicago throughout the years. This market was inspired by the 16th century Christkindlestmarkts in Germany that happen yearly in city centers. These markets are open air and filled with handmade ornaments, gifts, and treats. This year the holiday fun can be experienced right from your living room in your favorite slippers while sipping hot cocoa.
From now through Dec. 31st, Christkindlmarket is open to Chicagoans to explore! The shop offers ornaments, artisan merchandise, Glühwein (hot spiced wine) as well as sweets and treats from Germany and beyond. Christkindlmarket fans can also purchase traditional mugs and special limited-edition gift box sets, featuring German holiday favorites and must-haves.
The virtual market will include 50+ vendors such as Arrow Mattick where you can purchase hand-made soaps, wickless candles, jar candles, and more, Bearhands and Buddies which offers superwarm accessories for children and adults that would be essential for the frigid winter weather, and Frank’s Ornament House that provides handmade glass Christmas ornaments from Germany!
