This holiday season visitors can enjoy Chicago’s authentic German-Style Christkindlmarket at three admission-free locations! All of them offer a variety of vendors and free live entertainment but the signature red and white striped wooden booths and atmosphere are the same! Visiting all three locations is a must since each market has its own charm and unique vendors.
The Christkindlmarket Chicago at Daley Plaza, with more than 55 vendors, is celebrating its 26th season. Visitors are invited to share the joy of the season and bring a new, unwrapped gift for donation or shop the market for an item to be donated to Toys for Tots. With the logistical support of Gebrüder Weiss, until Thursday, December 15.
The Christkindlmarket Aurora at RiverEdge Park represents the slogan “Holiday Fun for the Whole Family.” With many of the downtown staple vendors, easy access by public transportation and plenty of parking spots within walking distance, it offers a wonderful alternative to the city markets!
As part of Winterland at Gallagher Way, you can combine a trip to this market with many fun holiday activities and turn your day into an interactive adventure. Visitors can enjoy holiday shopping and indulge in German and international savory and sweet treats before heading into the stadium for more Winterland fun. While the market itself is admission-free, tickets are required for the activities inside the stadium, organized by Gallagher Way (including ice skating inside the iconic ballpark). Admission and attraction tickets are available for purchase online at gallagherway.com or on-site at the stadium entrance of the Winterland.
ALDI, the official grocery sponsor of this year’s Christkindlmarket events, will be hosting seasonal activities on Dec. 3, 10 and 17 in Aurora and on Daley Plaza. ALDI will also be hosting a gnome hunt around both markets on these Saturdays and will offer samplings of its seasonal Winternacht collection of imported German cookies and chocolates.
