Get ready to kick off the holiday season with the 33rd annual Wintrust Magnificent Mile Lights Festival on Saturday, Nov. 23. This spectacular event is the largest evening parade in the U.S., dazzling displays and festive performances, bringing holiday magic to Chicago’s iconic Michigan Avenue.
The Scoop
Parade Route: South on N. Michigan Ave. from Oak St. to Wacker Dr., then east on Wacker Dr. to Upper Columbus.
Fireworks: A breathtaking display over the Chicago River at 9 p.m.
Lights Festival Lane: Enjoy family-friendly activities and take a free photo with Santa at Pioneer Court, 401 N. Michigan Ave., from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Parade Time: 5:30–7:30 p.m.
Cost: Free!
Parade Highlights
Grand Marshals: Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse are coming from Disney World to lead the mile-long parade and illuminate the 200+ trees along the Magnificent Mile.
Iconic Disney Characters: Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Anna, Elsa, Tiana and Belle will appear on themed floats.
New for 2024: 60-foot Muppet balloons featuring Santa Kermit the Frog and Animal.
Santa Claus: Father Christman will close out the parade when he arrives on the Wintrust Grand Finale float.
Musical Performances
Enjoy live entertainment from amazing musicians, including:
Former Ladies of Chic: Performing “Le Freak” and “Good Times.”
Cameo: Bringing funk classics like “Word Up!” and “Candy.”
Quad City DJ’s: Pumping up the crowd with “C’mon N’ Ride It (The Train)” and “Space Jam.”
DJ Chip E: Celebrating 40 years of house music, which was invented in Chicago.
Special Guests & Marching Bands
Olympians: Shemier Little (gold medal hurdler in 2024) and Alexa Knierim (gold medal figure skater in 2022).
Marching Bands: Groups from Ohio, Hawaii, Wisconsin, Alabama, Michigan and Illinois.
Drumlines: Crystal Lake Strikers and Petoskey Steel Drum Band.
