Chicago is home to some of the most renowned and historic museums in the world, featuring exhibits that will fulfill anyone’s interests. From art to history to science Chicago has it all.  While figuring out what is open to the public is becoming increasingly difficult, here are the must-see museums that are open right now in Chicago.

Art Institute 

The Art Institute of Chicago is one of the largest art museums in the United States. Located in the heart of the city at Chicago’s Grant Park, the museum features everything from historical exhibitions to present day artists from the city. Housing some of the world’s most recognizable works of art, from Vincent van Gogh to Claude Monet the collection is sure to grab any art lover’s attention. 

Chicago Architecture Center

Celebrating Chicago’s historical and modern architectural innovations, the Chicago Architecture Center, founded in 1966 it has grown to the epicenter for design and architectural history of Chicago. Whether your Exploring the city through its famous River Cruise or the “L” train tour, the Chicago Architecture Center is perfect for those looking to get an immersive look at the city. 

Illinois Holocaust Museum 

The Illinois Holocaust Museum located just outside Chicago in Skokie, Illinois has  just recently re-opened this past July. Exploring the history and impact of the holocaust through its interactive exhibits and events. Most Notably its “Take A Stand” exhibitions which features real holocaust surivors testimonies through 3D holograms, providing the most in depth history lessons that you wont want to miss. Field Museum

Located on Museum Campus along Chicago’s iconic lake shore, The Field Museum of Natural History is one of the largest and most notable museums in Chicago. Besides the breath-taking views of the skyline you’ll experience, the captivating artifacts and history is what makes the Field Museum a must-see. Witness some of the world’s most famous artifacts the museum has to offer such as SUE the largest T-REX fossil ever found or the Hall Of Gems. Looking for the most in depth experience? Chicago History Museum

Whether you’re new to the city, just visiting, or a pure Chicagoan, everyone can learn something new about the city at the Chicago History Museum. Founded in 1856 the museum is one of the oldest in the city. Featuring everything you would want to know about the history of Chicago. Including its music culture, its growth to the 3rd largest city in the United States, and its infamous food scene. Located in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood the museum is open everyday of the week and gives you the most in depth look into the city.
