How To Celebrate Rosh Hashanah In Chicago

This year, bring Chicago’s favorite restaurants home for Rosh Hashanah dinner.  Some of the Windy City’s best are serving up special menus this holiday weekend (Sunday, September 25 through Monday, September 26) for both dine-in and takeout.

  1. ABA, Fulton Market

This West Loop staple offers a Mediterranean twist on classic Jewish dishes. The restaurant’s menu will feature dishes such as Shawarma Rubbed Brisket, Za’atar Roasted Chicken, Salted Roasted Red & Golden Beets and Honey Pie. To-go orders must be placed by 5 p.m on Friday, September 23 and are priced at $64.95 per person. View the full menu here

  1. Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab, River North

Famous for its Florida Stone Crab, this seafood restaurant will serve traditional Rosh Hashanah dishes on a prix fixe holiday menu: Gefilte Fish with red beet horseradish, Chopped Liver and Matzo Ball Soup. Finish off with Joe’s Seafood’s signature Key Lime Pie. This menu is $64.95 per person and available for dine-in or takeout. 

  1. Helfield’s Jewish Deli, Wicker Park

This family-owned, New York-style deli prides itself on its Jewish roots. For a more casual, authentic Jewish meal to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, head to Helfield’s. The Ala Carte holiday menu features traditional favorites, including brisket, corned beef, blintz and challah, for affordable prices. 

  1. Osteria Via Stato, River North

This Italian Pizzeria and Bar on North State Street will offer a complete holiday meal for $44.95 per person. This four-course, prix fixe menu features sliced apples and honey, Chicken Mario and a Chocolate Hazelnut Panna Cotta. Additionally, the standard menu will be available so all can find something to enjoy.

  1. The Goddess and Grocer, Multiple Locations 

This grocery destination is unique in its globally inspired, diverse provisions. The power of community as fueled by food makes The Goddess and Grocer the perfect spot for a cultural holiday meal. Choose from an extensive a la carte menu complete with salmon, noodle kugel, latkes and roasted vegetables. Or, select from one of four dinner packages for $39.50 per person.

  1. Mon Ami Gabi, Lincoln Park

Enjoy a Rosh Hashanah holiday spread with a french bistro twist for $59.95 per person. Dine on challah, chopped liver, beef brisket and flourless chocolate cake with a fruit compote. The classic, authentic french menu will also be available.

A trendy coffeehouse and restaurant, Beatrix’s healthy and delicious Rosh Hashanah menu is sure to impress. Burnt honey chicken, candied carrots, olive oil cake and more will be available for $54.95 per person. Order the to-go menu here
