Who doesn’t love a good cocktail to finish off a long day of work? We have rounded up some of the best places to unwind with a great cocktail in Chicago!  

River North

The Smith: If you are looking for an elevated cocktail experience, look no further than The Smith. From the crisp cocktail “Doctor’s Orders” to the frozen twist on the classic French 75, “French 75 Slushie,” The Smith has something amazing for everybody to sip on their expansive Clark Street Patio! 

Michael Jordan’s Steak House: Looking for the MVP of cocktails? Check out this steak house inspired by the basketball legend, Michael Jordan’s Steak House! Located right on the Magnificent Mile, it is the perfect place to find a seat at the bar and watch a game while sipping on a delicious cocktail. With an array of flat-screen TV’s and an expensive list of premium cocktails — such as the Downtown Mule, So French So Clean, and Summer in The City — diners’ are able to elevate their cocktail experience to “Michael Jordan” level. 

Nonnina: Check out your friendly neighborhood Italian restaurant that is keeping the family tradition alive. At Nonnina, you can get cocktails named after friends you might know, like Giovanna (featuring Grey Goose), Lucia (featuring Don Q Cristal Rum), and Lina (featuring Hendrick’s Gin)!  

West Loop

The Press Room: A small restaurant with a big heart, The Press Room in Chicago’s West Loop offers friendly wine and classic cocktails! From the light and airy Paloma to the warm Bourbon Renewal, there is a delicious cocktail for every weather and every mood! Visit this warm restaurant after work from 4-7 for happy hour to get an Old Fashioned or a Martini for only $7! 

Grapes & Grains: Looking to broaden your palate? Grapes & Grains — or GG, as it is referred to in the West Loop neighborhood — offers whiskey tastings from all over the world! Visit this Chicago speakeasy to try classics such as the Old Money Old Fashioned, a French 38, or Cocoa Butter Kisses made with coffee for an after work energy boost!    

The Loyalist: The more light and casual sister of the Michelin-starred Smyth, The Loyalist, is a French brasserie with cocktails that will make you say “Oh La La.” From refreshing cocktails that are light and bubbly like Ah, La Vache! to the rare spirits cocktails such as The Last Dance, you are guaranteed to find the perfect drink this National Cocktail Day!  

El Che Steakhouse & Bar: Known for being Chicago’s go-to destination for beef, wine and live-fire cooking, El Che Steakhouse and Bar is serving up amazing Argentine-inspired cocktails! Try the “#4 With A Smile” to get a taste of a classic cocktail found in Buenos Aires! 

Recess: Looking for a fun bar that makes you feel like a kid again? Chicago’s adult playground, Recess, is the perfect place to let loose and celebrate National Cocktail Day! With classic cocktails like an Espresso Martini and the Recess’ Sazerac, there are so many delicious drinks to choose from! Don’t forget to pop by during Happy Hour (Wednesdays-Fridays from 4-6pm) to enjoy half-off starters and $7 Jim Beam Old Fashioned’s! 

Proxi: Take your taste-buds on a trip in Chicago’s West Loop at Proxi! With global flavors, each cocktail is so unique! Try some of their amazing cocktails such as the Lost Garden, featuring hibiscus-infused Rhine Hall Plum brandy, cocchi rosa and tonic!  

Sepia: Check out this iconic Chicago staple, Michelin-starred Sepia this National Cocktail Day! Been really into Espresso Martinis? Head Bartender Keith Meicher has his own take on everyone’s new favorite cocktail with vodka, dark rum, coffee liqueur and espresso foam! Perfect for an after work pick-me-up!

Rose Mary: From delicious Adriatic drinking food to amazing cocktails, Rose Mary is a must-try! Old Town

LG’s Bar & Kitchen:  In the heart of Old Town, LG’s Bar & Kitchen is the place to be! Wood: With the first day of spring this past week, Wood has revamped their beverage menu with some amazing spring-inspired cocktails! For a more serious drink, check out the “Business in the Front,” a bourbon-based cocktail with notes between a manhattan and a spiced old fashioned! Looking for a more playful drink? Check out the “Party in the Back” which is inspired by the French 75! 

Farm Bar: Farm Bar is a quiet farm-to-table restaurant that utilizes ingredients from owner TJ Callahan’s Brown Dog Farm in their made-from-scratch cocktails! With cocktails such as the Brown Dog Old Fashioned (featuring Chicago Spirit bourbon) and the Chai Baby (featuring Banhez Mezcal, House Infused Cinnamon Tequila) it’s the perfect place to celebrate National Cocktail Day! 

Lincoln Park

Gemini: With their made-from-scratch mentality, Gemini not only has delicious American style cuisine, but amazing cocktails as well! Check out their Squirtsky Draft with rocktown grapefruit vodka, vodka, lime, and twisted alchemy cold-pressed grapefruit which was deemed “Lincoln Park’s Favorite.”  

West Town

Funkenhausen: Known for their extensive wine and beer program from German-speaking regions, Funkenhausen is taking over the zero-proof cocktail game! They have crafted a superior menu with specialty cocktails such as the Sweet but Feisty, a citrusty explosion with spicy undertones.  

The Loop

Hoyt’s: Chicago’s favorite American grill, Hoyt’s has opened up once again after a brief hiatus! Just in time to enjoy National Cocktail Day! Hoyt’s is the perfect place to unwind after work or people watch by the river! And with Happy Hour on Thursdays and Fridays from 4-7pm you can enjoy rotating specials on cocktails, wine and draft beers!  

Raised Urban Rooftop: Chicago’s rooftop season is upon us! What better way to enjoy the beauty of Chicago then from Raised Urban Rooftop, just steps away from the Chicago Theater district! From beautiful cocktails such as the Daydreamer featuring Empress 1908 Gin or the Italiano featuring Don Julio Blanco, to the amazing view of the city, this rooftop is an Instagram-lovers dream! 

Petterino’s: Do you love the theater? Well then look no further than Petterino’s, an iconic Chicago Theater District staple! Logan Square

Andros Taverna: Featuring sophisticated Mediterranean food cooked from the soul, Andro’s Taverna is a must-try! Besides delicious food, Andros also boasts some of the best shaken and stirred cocktails in all of Logan Square! From the stirred favorite, Andros’ The Golden One to the shaken favorite, Mida’s Touch, the only question you need to ask is, “shaken or stirred?”

New Eastside
