“Death Becomes Her” Announces Complete Casting

This week, Broadway in Chicago and Universal Theater Group announced the complete cast for the world-premier of Death Becomes Her, a new musical comedy.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Death Becomes Her features actress Madeline Ashton and author Helen Sharp, long time frenemies. When Madeline steals away Helen’s fiancé, Helen starts plotting revenge. Until the women meet the mysterious Viola Van Horn, and Madeline and Helen start a new life—and death—with their youth and beauty restored, along with a grudge that will last forever.

Based on the 1992 film, Death Becomes Her will show a pre-Broadway performance at the Cadillac Palace Theatre from April 30 to June 2.

Performances will be held Wednesday through Sunday starting May 5. More information on performance dates can be found online.

Tickets start at $33 and can be purchased online or at any Broadway in Chicago box office. Groups of ten or more can purchase tickets by phone or email.

THE CAST AND CREW

Leads for the musical are Tony Award nominee Megan Hilty as “Madeline Ashton,” Tony Award nominee Jennifer Simard as “Helen Sharp,” Tony Award nominee Christopher Sieber as “Ernest Menville,” and Grammy Award winner Michelle Williams as “Viola Van Horn.”

The ensemble members include Marija Abney, Sarita Colon, Kaleigh Cronin, Natalie Charle Ellis, Taurean Everett, Michael Graceffa, Kolton Krouse, Josh Lamon, Sarah Meahl, Diana Vaden, Sir Brock Warren, Bud Weber, Ryan Worsing, Ericka Hunter Yang, and Warren Yang. Beau Harmon, Johanna Moise, Amy Quanbeck, and Zach Williams join as Swings.

The performance has an original score by Julia Mattison and Noel Carey, a book by Marco Pennette, music supervision by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, orchestrations by Doug Besterman, dance & incidental music arrangements by Sam Davis, and music direction by Ben Cohn. Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli will direct the musical.

The creative team features Sets by Derek McLane, Costumes by Paul Tazewell, Lights by Justin Townsend, Sound by Peter Hylenski, Illusions by Rob Lake, Hair and Wigs by Charles LaPointe, Make-Up by Joe Dulude II, Fights by Thomas Schall, Casting by Tara Rubin, and Production Stage Management by Rachel Sterner. 321 Theatrical Management leads General Management.

Death Becomes Her is produced by Universal Theatrical Group. Jimmy Horowitz and Loew Cunningham oversee the group, led by Chris Herzberger.
