Eataly’s pop-up restaurant Il Tartufo closes up shop in a week, so don’t miss the opportunity to try these decadently delicious truffle dishes one last time.

Using Italian truffles from Urbani, who sell 70 percent of truffles in Europe, Il Tartufo offers a full menu of classic Italian dishes and Italian-inspired dishes from Eataly’s executive chef Rob Wing. Delicious alone, the addition of Urbani’s truffles gives the dishes a richness in flavor that is unparalleled.

Truffles are a fungus, but don’t let that discourage you. Remember mushrooms are a fungus too, and we all love mushrooms. Truffles provide a beautiful nutty, woody, and earthy taste to any dish. At Il Tartufo guests get the chance to try the rare white truffle that are indigenous to Alba, Italy and are only available in the fall. Truffles are best fresh, and due to Eataly’s partnership with Urbani the truffles are on plates in the restaurant 36 hours after being picked from the ground.

Highlights of the menu include the savory mushroom and truffle arancini with taleggio fonduta antipasti. For primi don’t skip on the pork and veal stuffed pasta in a Beppino Occelli Piemontese butter sauce. For secondi a must-have is the extremely tender braised pork belly with green lentils and cabbage.  The dishes range from $14–$28. Splurge and get a supplement of freshly shaved truffles on your dishes for $29. Treat yourself and loved ones this holiday season to this one-of-a-kind experience.

In addition, don’t miss out on Truffle Day on Dec. 22 where you can buy fresh white truffles for $5.80 per gram as opposed to the usual $8.80 per gram at Eataly.

Il Tartufo closes Dec. 30 at Eataly Chicago, 43 E. Ohio St. It’ll be open Wednesday–Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. except for Dec. 25. For more information visit eataly.com/us_en/stores/chicago/chicago-truffle-restaurant.
