There is something about cold weather that makes people hungry, so thankfully Chicago Restaurant Week is here to vanquish your hunger. With over 350 restaurants it’s hard to pick one so here’s five of the best seafood and steakhouses to visit during restaurant week.

With seafood and steakhouses usually being destinations for special occasions due to their typical high price point it makes great sense to go during restaurant week where they have prix fix menus for lunch and dinner. For those frequent customers it also makes a perfect time to go because these menus are packed with dishes that aren’t on the normal menus. One of the best examples of this is McCormick and Schmick’s Seafood and Steaks.

1. McCormick and Schmick’s Seafood and Steaks

McCormick and Schmick’s restaurant week menu is filled with dishes that are packed with distinct flavors that your mind thinks they compete but in your mouth are an orchestra of deliciousness. Their crispy Kung Pao calamari is a great example of this. Where most establishments give you the boring calamari and marinara sauce, McCormick and Schmick’s adds peanuts for more texture and sweetness and then cherry peppers and a Kung Pao glaze to give it a nice heat. You’ll see this mix of heat, sweetness, and savoriness throughout their menus like in their grilled marinated prawns that sit on top a bed of sautéed spinach that are also atop a creamy polenta cake that have chipotle peppers in it and surrounded by a red pepper coulis. That’s one dish that’ll make you feel nice and warm no matter the temperature outside. Other highlights include a braised short rib with a foie gras risotto and a creamy chocolate pot de creme for dessert.

Here are some other eateries to try.
