With it being the oldest outdoor music festival in the United States, Ravinia attracts a large variety of artists that have both old and young fans. Here are the three you need to see this weekend.
Patti LaBelle
June 23, Gates open at 5 p.m.
Ravinia
418 Sheridan Rd, Highland Park, IL
Not only is Patti LaBelle’s voice fantastic but if you’ve ever seen her perform live you know that it always comes with goosebumps. To add to that old school feel The Commodores will be joining Labelle on stage.
Bob Dylan
June 24, Gates open at 5 p.m.
Ravinia
418 Sheridan Rd, Highland Park, IL
Bob Dylan hasn’t been at Ravinia since 1964 when he was billed as Robert Dylan, so the performance this weekend has been long overdue. Some may complain that Dylan’s voice is not the same, but the stories he tells are definitely as powerful. Dylan will be joined by Chicago legend and soul powerhouse Mavis Staples.
Gavin DeGraw
June 25, Gates open at 4 p.m.
Ravinia
418 Sheridan Rd, Highland Park, IL
Gavin DeGraw’s piano pounding, soulful voice, and singer-songwriter lyrics were dominating the early 2000s, but he is still pushing out great songs that need to be heard. The Fray, another great band from that era, will also perform.
