New Tables in Town

These recent openings offer fresh dining alternatives.

The Dubliner

Looking for a taste of Ireland, but can't find your passport?  This downtown pub serves up traditional Irish ingredients combined with local produce in a European pub atmosphere.  Live Irish music and a brunch on Saturday and Sunday round out the weekends.  On the menu: bangers and mash; beef and Guinness stew; Bailey's chocolate mousse.  1025 Washington Ave., 314-421-4300.

Wapango

The flavors of Cuba, Central America, and South America converge in a sophisticated environment.  Named after a dance popular in many Latin American countries, this restaurant focuses on robust seasonings, tropical fruits, and fresh vegetables.  On the menu: Brazilian moqueca; yucca fries; hot apple empanadas.  2020 Chesterfield Mall, 636-536-1151.

Broadway, 314-621-0407.

Ridley Pearson's St. Louis

A best-selling author outlines an ideal day in the city.

Editors Note: Crime fiction fans are hooked by his tension-filled mysteries, while children are delighted by Peter and the Starcatchers, a tale that explains the beginnings of Peter Pan. When he's not writing, Pearson likes to rock out with The Rock Bottom Remainders, an all-author band that includes Stephen King, Amy Tan, Dave Barry, and Mitch Albom. Pearson and his family live in St. Louis, making the most of the city's attractions and restaurants.
