St. Louis Wineries

The area just west and south of St. Louis is known as Missouri Wine Country, and is brimming with wineries and vineyards. Take a trip down the Weinstrasse, or "Wine Road", also known as Missouri Highway 94, to reach wine country and many of Missouri's wineries.
At Balducci Vineyards (636-482-VINO, 6610 Hwy. 94 South, Augusta ) try delicious wine and food paired with beautiful scenic vistas of the surrounding hills and growing vines.

Blumenhof Winery (636-433-2245, Hwy. 94) is part of the historic village of Dutzow, Missouri's oldest German settlement. Live entertainment in the winegarden and treats from the Brathaus Grill will make your visit memorable.

At Mount Pleasant Winery (800-467-WINE, 5634 High St. ) in Augusta, tour the limestone cellars, taste international award-winning wines, and enjoy majestic views from the patio. Picnic on the patio, indulge in a winemaker dinner, or take part in a murder mystery dinner.

Sample dry, semi-dry, and fruit wines at Sugar Creek Winery (636-987-2400, Hwy. 94, Defiance ). The winery overlooks beautiful river bluffs near the Katy Trail.

If you have more time, head to Hermann, Missouri, and Stone Hill Winer y (800-909-WINE) to sample its award-winning Norton (similar in style to a Cabernet Sauvignon).
Wine is also a good reason to visit Ste. Genevieve, a historic French Colonial village an hour south of St. Louis. Crown Valley Winery (866-207-9463,Route WW in western Ste. Genevieve County) is set amid acres of lush vineyards, and offers tastings and tours to rival any in the Napa Valley.
