Furnish Your Home in Style

St. Louis has an assortment of home accessory and antiques stores that will make your home sparkle.

Shoppers have more than 8,000 square feet to explore at Gringo Jones Imports (314-664-1666, 4468 Shaw Blvd.), a one-of-a-kind store offering an eclectic assortment of yard décor, furniture, ironwork, sculptures, Mexican wares and even a collection of colorful purses and jewelry.

At The Gifted Gardener (314-961-1985, 8935 Manchester Road), you will likely be tempted by many of the unique gifts and accessories for the home and garden, including fountains, furniture, lamps, clocks, wall hangings and statuary.

One of St. Louis's newest additions that delights locals and tourists alike is Crate & Barrel (314-725-6380, 1 The Boulevard), which boasts two stories of modern home décor, furniture and kitchenware.

As the name suggests, A Floral Gallery (314-727-1166, 7616 Wydown) offers floral arrangements and flowers, but doesn't stop there. This quaint shop also features wreaths, candles and other gifts for any occasion.

Liven up someone's day with a little something from Viva! (314-968-8482, 2542 Brentwood Blvd.), which has a charming display of silver, jewelry, sun catchers and more.

Take a tour around the globe at World Market (multiple locations), where one can find worldly knick knacks, home furnishings, gourmet food and wine, and many other collectibles from the Far East to the land Down Under.

Sallie Home (9821 Clayton Rd., 314-567-7883) is an enchanted dreamland of bedding and home accessories. Fine linens and sumptuous down comforters, softly tailored matelesses and silky smooth sateens will make you wish you could curl up right there in the display bed. Sculpted and embroidered towels and a variety of bath products with gentle fragrances will soothe you; dinnerware with handcrafted character and French country sophistication will make everyday entertaining a pleasure. The unique selection of European glassware, crystal, and fine china is perfect for wedding gifts, and brides are welcome to register by calling or visiting the store.

Practically everything you need for entertaining friends (or yourself) can be found at Z Gallerie (St. Louis Galleria, 314-863-1108). A multitude of supplies for a well-stocked bar catch the eye, with rolling bar carts, wine accessories, and more martini glasses than you can shake a stir stick at. Give your home a quick makeover with velvet and silk bedding in vibrant colors or new drapery panels and accent rugs. A round rattan ottoman is perfect for serving or resting your feet; an array of accessories includes mesmerizing glitter candles and intriguing clocks under magnified glass.

The Summer House (14356 Manchester Rd., 636-256-9264) is nestled in a Victorian-style house which is over 100 years old. Examples of period architecture abound on the two floors that are open to the public, like extensive trim work and moldings and a tiny staircase that can be seen winding its way to the third floor office space. Comfy sofas and chairs with soft throws and pillows add warmth, while oil paintings of horses, dogs, and roosters, and bookcases filled with ceramics and china make it easy to envision the space as the country home of an early 20th century family.

A treasure trove of colors and textures awaits at The Designing Block (314-721-4224, 7735 Clayton Rd.). Two floors of whimsical accoutrements include chaise longues, throw pillows with witty sayings, unusual purses and bags, bold jewelry, and English-flavored occasional furniture.

At Ken Miesner's (314-567-6650, Plaza Frontenac) flowers cover almost every inch of available space, with the overflow displayed outside the shop's front doors. Holiday items, beautiful hostess gifts, and wreaths for all seasons will tempt you.

In Eureka, which is just a short jaunt down I-44 West, you'll find the marvels of over 500 antiques dealers. Wallach House Antiques (636-938-6633, 510 N. West Ave.), Firehouse Gallery (636-938-3303, 131 South Central), and the Great Midwest Antique Mall (636-938-6760, 530 Workman Rd.) to name a few, handle everything from furniture to collectibles. Most are open seven days but call ahead to be sure.

St. Charles has many shopping venues in quaint settings. French Connection (636-947-7044, 826 N. 2nd St.) has been nestled in its location for 23 years. Owner Deloris Barton specializes in furniture and restored lighting from circa 1830 to 1930. Don't miss Blossom (636-949-3956, 806 N. 2nd St.) just down the way. Hobbit's Hole Antiques (636-947-6227, 1019 S. Main) is a two-story house with fifteen rooms located on the far south end of Main St. The owner, Stan Long, purveys items from the 1880s through the mid-20th century, including collectible Waterford, Royal Dalton, and Nippon. If you want to visit just one store but still benefit from a huge selection, visit the Warson Woods Antique Gallery (314-909-0123, 10091 Manchester Rd.). With 300 dealers and 26,000 square feet of floor space, every style from primitive to palatial is represented. Nearby, the Emporium At Warson Woods, (314-909-0100, 10001 Manchester Rd.) is chock full of furniture and treasures from several dealers including Andy, Jo Ellen, and Lou Culbertson.

The Shops of Clayton Row boast many European jewels. Finches (314-725-2622, 7729 Clayton Rd.) has a vast array of china and collectibles atop buffets, secretaries, armoires, dressers and tables from mid-1800 through the 1930s. Just next door, find European furniture and objets d'art inside Regent Parade (314-727-4959, 7721 Clayton Rd.) and Davis Place (314-727-9850, 7731 Clayton Rd.). Parking is available on the street as well as behind the shops.

Nearby Maplewood hosts a wonderful assortment of shops. The real deal can be found at Tin Roof Antiques (314-647-1049, 2201 McCausland Ave.) with its furniture, collectibles, military memorabilia, AND toys and books. While you are in the area, visit the shops around the corner on Manchester Avenue. Massey Antiques (314-647-2680, 7225 Manchester), specializes in restoring things to pristine condition.

Possibly the most famous section of St. Louis antiques dealers is on Cherokee Antique Row. Visit Mitch at Panorama Antiques and Collectibles (314-772-8007, 1925 Cherokee St.) for unusual items, folk art and gifts. Pixie 9 Vintage (314-776-3739, 2114 Cherokee) specializes in vintage clothing and accessories from the 1920s through the 1970s. They also carry silver, art prints, linen, china, collectibles, glassware and pottery.

Your tour wouldn't be complete without visiting the Central West End shops on McPherson and Euclid. There are many, including the Antique Center of St. Louis (314-367-0588, 4732 McPherson) and Marianna's inside Arlene Lilie Interiors (314-367-2900, 4739 McPherson).
