NRA Show: The "Hot Chef" Challenge

Author: Jody Robbins

Be a part of the National Restaurant Association (NRA) show in 2008 with a viral video project and win a free chance to demonstrate your company at the 2008 NRA Show in Chicago.

Professional chefs and home cooks alike can submit entries of themselves preparing their favorite recipes using trendy food- and alcohol-related ingredients. See this for more details.

The winner, as selected by YouTube users and the NRA, will showcase his or her culinary creations among a lineup of leading chefs and tens of thousands of attendees at the restaurant industry's biggest event of the year, held at McCormick Place in Chicago Sat., May 17, through Tues., May 20.

Those interested should submit an original video of themselves doing a cooking demonstration by May 7, 2008. Each video should be no longer than two minutes and must include one food item and one alcohol item (as an ingredient or as a pairing with a dish) from the NRA's "What's Hot & What's Not" Chef Survey, available here

YouTube users will vote for the top three videos, and the award-winning entry will then be selected by an NRA panel. Viewers can vote by selecting "Thumb's Up" or "Thumb's Down" through May 7, 2008.

The winner will be given a live 60-minute demonstration spot in the Culinary Scene area at the NRA Show on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 1 p.m., as well as having his/her video featured on the show's website, www.restaurant.org/show. Additionally, the winner will also receive a three-day/two-night trip to Chicago (total approximate retail value: $850) to be scheduled around the demonstration spot. Trip package includes one single/double occupancy hotel room for two nights at a select hotel and a round-trip coach airline ticket (from the nearest major airport to the winner's home). The Culinary Scene features custom-built demonstration kitchens in which trend-setting chefs such as Rick Bayless, Grady Spears and Charlie Ayers will perform culinary showcases through the four NRA Show days.

No purchase is necessary to enter the contest. Limit one video submission per person, who has to be a legal resident of the contiguous United States, 21 years of age or older (void where prohibited or restricted by law). The Contest is open to legal residents of the 48 contiguous United States, including the District of Columbia, who are registered users of YouTube site.
