Event Details:

The Missouri Botanical Garden brings Far-East flair to Labor Day Weekend with a festival reminiscent of garden celebrations in Japan. Highlights of the 2008 Japanese Festival include sumo wrestling, a rakugo performance (think stand up comedy), and the ritualistic smashing of a sake barrel, in addition to street magic, martial arts performances, and ic-sculpting. And, like any good festival, there will be loads of authentic Japanese cuisine, like sushi, okonomiyaki pancakes and green tea ice cream. If the performances and food aren't enough to entice you, maybe ambling through the serene surroundings of the 14-acre Japanese garden will give you the peace and quiet you desire.

Whether you're celebrating your heritage or your bonsai hobby, the Japanese Festival at the Missouri Botanical Garden has something to entertain you.

The Japanese Festival runs from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. August 30 and 31, and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on September 1. For more information, directions on how to get there, and ticket prices visit http://www.mobot.org

$10 adults, $7 seniors (65+), $3 children (3-12), $3 Garden member
