Art galleries are plentiful in the Chicago art scene and each gallery has its own unique setup and exhibitions on display. The various galleries feature work in a wide range of fields, from up-and-coming artists to renowned artists like Pablo Picasso.

When it comes to Chicago art galleries, River North has an abundance of Chicago art galleries to explore. With more than 40 galleries scattered in close proximity to the Magnificent Mile, they are easy to find and fun to explore.

Public art has come a long way from its cave painting days. The first of its kind in the U.S., The DuSable Museum of African American History shares the stories of the struggles and triumphs of African Americans throughout U.S. history. The museum focuses not only on the well known leaders, but also the unsung heroes who paved the way for equality throughout history.

The West Loop art scene definitely stands out with political art and video installations. Galleries house the artwork of many international and local artists that include more than your traditional oil painting or sculpture.

2nd Fridays Gallery Night, an event held in the Chicago Arts District, is an opportunity for art galleries in the Pilsen neighborhood to open their doors to the public bringing artists and collectors together. This artistic community surrounding S. Halsted and 18th streets consists of at least 35 diverse art galleries.
