Printer's Row/Burnham Park

Chicago | South Side

Overview

Many of the former Printer’s Row buildings now feature bookstores, shops, restaurants and condominiums. As its name suggests, this area was once the headquarters of Chicago’s printing trade. Today the buildings house many jazz and blues clubs, shops and galleries. Many of the original residents were writers, artists, and photographers, but today it is a popular among businessmen.

Shopping

Some shopping scattered about, but bookstores are the most popular.

Dining/Nightlife

The popular Buddy Guy's Legends is located in this area.

Culture & Attractions

Well-known attractions such as the Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium, Soldier Field and McCormick Place reside here. Dearborn Station was a departure point for passenger trains and an arrival point for many immigrants. Every June the neighborhood hosts a book fair to keep its name true. The fair sells many rare and hard to find books.

The Low Down

Visit Buddy Guy's Legends blues club. This popular spot is known around the country as a great place to see popular musical acts.
