Geneva

Overview

Geneva is a quaint town situated on an old Native American reservation dating back to the 17th century. Known for its specialty shops, Geneva is the quintessential American neighborhood complete with charming storefronts and Victorian-style architecture. The suburb is also set in a beautiful scenic area along the Fox River. Approximately 40 miles west of downtown Chicago, Geneva is perfect for a weekend retreat from the noise and congestion of the city. Geneva also has many great bike trails including the Fox River Trail and the Illinois Prairie Path. The town is home of the Kane County Cougars, a Class A minor league baseball team that provides a great time for people of all ages, especially children. Geneva is also known for their “Swedish Days” during the last week of June celebrating entertainment, music, food, and drinks of Swedish heritage. There is also the Geneva Arts Fair on July 28 and July 29 that showcases over 140 artists of different styles and genres.

Shopping

There are over 100 specialty shops located in the downtown area, but newer shopping centers with popular retailers have recently come into the scene. Geneva Commons is a new popular shopping spot that draws shopping in from all the surrounding towns. The first weekend of every month visitors can enjoy a flea market with featuring many hand-crafted goods. Whether looking for a specialty shop or chic retailer, Geneva has it all.

Dining/Nightlife

From sidewalk cafes, to homemade chocolate shops, to up-scale restaurants, Geneva has what you're looking for. A romantic evening can be spent eating along side the great Fox River.
