Long Grove

Chicago | Northwest Suburbs

Overview

Named after the grove of oak and hickory trees that once lined the community, Long Grove is 29 miles northwest of the Loop. Recognized as the first Historic District in Illinois in 1960, Long Grove has maintained the prairie-land appeal that fames the Midwestern region. Complete with covered bridges leading to one-room schoolhouses and preserved farmhouses once occupied by the area’s craftsman and blacksmiths, Long Grove is like flipping through the pages of a history book. Homeowners cherish the open spaces the zoning ensures for its residents.

Shopping

Stroll down the cobblestone sidewalks to shop the numerous specialty stores and galleries. From art galleries to furniture stores to antique shops, Long Grove is romantic place to shop.

Dining/Nightlife

Mexican, American, and cafe style restaurants can all be found downtown.

Culture & Attractions

The historic downtown area has 120 businesses that all follow the strict regulations required to protect the downtown image.

The Low Down

Be sure to check out Long Grove Confectionery where you can find hand dipped chocolate strawberries, English Toffee, and other chocolate candies.
