Wheaton
Overview
Right in the heart of DuPage County, Wheaton had its beginnings all the way back in 1837. The historic Wheaton College, bustling downtown and train station, and excellent dining make Wheaton into a great place to live and visit. The town has a strong Christian background and has received many awards for various aspects of the town. It is also the hometown to actors Jim and John Belushi.
Shopping
The downtown has many shops and boutiques. The popular Popcorn Shop is a narrow alley between two buildings that was converted into a popcorn/candy shop. Candy is priced as low as $.02 and also sells fresh popcorn; both are a favorite among children and adults. The Danada shopping center, just minutes away, also has many chain retail stores and restaurants.
Dining/Nightlife
All types of food can be found in Wheaton, i.e. Chinese, American, Pizza, Italian, to name a few. The former fire house has been converted into a pizzeria right in the heart of the downtown. The surrounding areas also offer many types of cuisine.
Culture & Attractions
The four-year Christian liberal arts school, Wheaton College, dates back to 1860. The campus also has the Billy Graham Museum which showcases evangelism in North America. Arrowhead Golf Course recently celebrated the opening of its new clubhouse. They feature three 9-hole golf courses, a restaurant, banquet facilities, meeting rooms, and Pro Shop. Also nearby is the Morton Arboretum, 1,700 acres of beautiful trees and plants. The Arboretum is open 365 days a year.
