Oak Park
Overview
This historic suburb features some of the most breathtaking, turn-of-the-century architecture in all of the Chicago-land area. Only nine miles west of Chicago, Oak Park is home to the world-renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright's house and studio. The downtown area has a lot to offer visitors.
Shopping
Downtown has bookstores, jewelry stores, restaurants, and home stores. Shopping downtown allows visitors to get a nice look at the village.
Dining/Nightlife
There are many restaurants and cafes in Oak Park. Enjoy bistros, ethnic cuisine, American food and coffee shops throughout the area. Check out Himmingway's Bistro and Le Coq Francais Seafood Bar for a 1930s Parisian style bistro.
Culture & Attractions
Perhaps the most intriguing in the village is the Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. Walking tours are available and worth the time. Learn about the man himself and the homes. Many other beautiful Victorian style homes can be found in Oak Park as well. The town also boasts being the birthplace to Ernest Hemingway.
