Lombard
Overview
The Lilac Village is known for it's annual Lilac Festival and Parade. Every May, this 16 day long festival has beautiful lilacs, tulips, and other flowers that bring Lombard's history alive. Lombard is home to Yorktown Center, an indoor shopping mall that is currently being expanded to include The Shops on Butterfield, which is an outdoor shopping area. There are a wide variety of stores and major retailers including J.C. Penny, Carson Pirie Scott, and Von Maur. Every year, Lombard hosts the Taste of Lombard at the beginning of July for people to enjoy great food, music, entertainment, fireworks, arts and crafts, and a carnival. Lombard is a growing community with many new homes, a quaint downtown, luxury condominiums, and a Westin Hotel.
Shopping
The newly expanded Yorktown Center/The Shops on Butterfield are still under construction, however, all stores are open. Many new stores were introduced to the area on top of the already popular department stores.
Dining/Nightlife
A huge boom of restaurants have recently moved into Lombard. A Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse and Holy Mackerel! are just two of the new eateries to the Yorktown area. Many restaurants have full service bars and are open late.
Culture & Attractions
Between the Lilac Parade, Taste of Lombard, and shopping scene, Lombard has it all! There is something for everyone in the west suburb.
The Low Down
Shopping and dining are two of the best things to do. The downtown doesn't offer much for tourists so head over to Butterfield Road where it's all happening. A drive down the street will showcase all that Lombard has to offer. Stop off at any one of the numerous restaurants and stores.
