Downers Grove

Overview

Downers Grove is located 18 miles west of Chicago with easy access to the city and the airports. Many of the historic homes are over 100 years old. Downers Grove prides itself on the Sears-Roebuck Catalog Homes built between 1908 and 1940. These homes were ready-to-assemble houses that were shipped via railroad boxcars that included kits and all of the necessary materials needed to build a house. There are even self-guiding walking and driving tours to witness these unique homes.

There are many popular shopping areas in this town from little stores to big corporate stores.

There are a wide variety of restaurants in the area from fast food to fancy cuisine.

Culture & Attractions

This suburb is also home to many attractions including the Tivoli Theater, which is an older theater built in 1928 that shows recent films at bargain prices. There is also the Historic Downers Grove Golf Course, which was established in 1892. This golf course is a challenging nine-hole course in a beautiful scenic area. Enjoy many festivals and parades in Downers Grove and in the area including the July 4 parade, a Bike and Buggy Parade, and the Fine Arts Festival!
