Millennium Park: Nightlife

Author: Jennifer Nunez

Downtown Chicago is a bustling city by day, but if you're in the mood for a night on the town, you have few choices accross from Millennium park, but many more if you venture north or south of the Loop. You will find music and drinks of all kinds in bars, pubs, lounges and clubs open as late as 5 a.m.!

Sit outside at Park Grill and catch the goings-on of the hordes of appreciators that throng the park and this in-the-park restaurant. Open 'till 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 'till 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday's, the Park Grill serves as an ideal evening getaway for those not looking to stay out too late but want to let loose just the same. Sample a glass of wine from there widespread wine list or sip on a martini and watch the sun set behind the magnificent chicago Skyline or the skaters at the ice rink adjoining the restaurant. Even better--join 'em.

Just across the street, The Gage offers upscale Irish drinking and eating fare for late-night dining and gossiping. Order up a beer at the bar, or sip a cosmo at the pub seating in front of the large front windows and people watch for hours. If there is one thing Chicago has plenty, it's a diverse mixture of people and fashion trends. Executive Chef Dirk Flanigan generates exclusive eats and decadant treats for The Gage's guests, including a easy-to-read four-course menu. Snacks, the first course, include fried chicken livers with spicy mustard and The Gage N-17 fondue with butter kaase, brie, spinach and toast. The second course options contain a house curred salmon with dill, capers, lemon, creme fraiche, potato cakes and mustard, and a daily cheese selection. Course number three offers up chicken with giant noodle soup, salad of briased rabbit, or carmelized lobster with lemon quinoa, basil and chili. The fourth and final course, the entree involves petite ricotta and semolina dumplings served with woodland mushrooms, oven dried tomatoes, parmigiano reggiano and cream.
