Event Details:
It's 1929 in a traditional family-owned cigar factory in Tampa, Florida. The ceiling fan slowly rotates the humid air as a family of beautiful young women sit on old wooden chairs carrying on the tradition of hand-rolling cigars. Their life in the factory sparks to flame when the young, handsome Juan Julian is hired as the factory “lector” – a Cuban tradition of a person who reads poetry, newspapers and novels out loud to help workers pass the time. As Julian reads his favorite novel, Tolstoy's "Anna Karenina," his words ignite emotions and desires that change the women, the factory and their lives forever.
From dreams of escaping a passionless marriage to those of starting a new life, far away from the routine of the factory, nothing will ever be the same again. Immerse yourself in this sultry, emotionally riveting experience.
Includes strong adult language and themes. Not recommended for children or young teens.
