Having launched the careers of such celebrities as John Belushi, Bill Murray, and Mike Meyers, Second City has been a Chicago treasure since the 1970s. The club has two stages where the actors write and perform their own comedy routines. Tickets run about $20 for Mainstage performances and vary for the other shows. There is also no drink minimum and is recommended for mature audiences only.
Also check out Donny's Skybox located on the 4th floor of Piper's Alley which is used as a Second City classroom and has performances Thursday through Sunday nights.
