iO is a world-famous improv theater that has trained comedic superstars, like Chris Farley, Mike Myers, Tiny Fey and many more - an alumni list that defines modern comedy.
Together, improv pro Charna Halpern and legendary director Del Close founded the iO, a project that grew from a nomadic group of comedic artists to a nationally recognized institution. In 1995, iO moved to its current location on Clark Street in Chicago.
The venue has two theaters, two full-service bars, and over 25 improv and sketch shows a week. It also serves as an extensive training program, taught by the who's-who of the Chicago improv scene.
Go see a show at the iO and you just may see the stage actors of today on Saturday Night Live tomorrow.
