The Piven Theatre Workshop is known for its celebrity alumni: Jeremy Piven, John and Joan Cusack Aidan Quinn, Lili Taylor, Harry Lennix, Kate Walsh, Hope Davis, and many more.
The Piven Theatre has been training talented child and adult actors for over 35 years. The Piven Theatre Workshop focuses on ensemble-based, community-oriented theater training. The school also offers extensive scholarship and outreach programs to students.
The school also hosts a professional Equity company committed to new works, literary adaptations and story theatre form. The Piven Theatre, which serves over 3,000 audience members annually, has received five recommendations for Joseph Jefferson Awards, an After Dark Award for Outstanding Ensemble, a Joseph Jefferson Award for Best New Adaptation and a Joseph Jefferson nomination for Best Original Score. The theatre has been a proving ground for notable young directors such as Eric Simonson, Jennifer Green, Robin Chaplik and Jessica Thebus.
