More about The Empty Bottle...
Short Description:
The Empty Bottle in Ukranian Village is perhaps the best place to see live indie music shows in Chicago.
Full Details:
Opened in 1992, the Empty Bottle has been named "best Chicago venue for live music" by literally dozens of publications. The Empty Bottle is an intimate and sparce hole-in-the wall - the kind of place where you get to see up-and-coming bands for the last time before they start playing bigger venues. Featuring, as the venue's website says, "indie rock, experimental, electronic, jazz, post-this, pre-that..." The Empty Bottle hosts an amazingly diverse array of new and progressive acts. It's places like the Empty Bottle and the perhaps-equally-rad Hideout that are turning Chicago into such an indie music Mecca. Of course, the fact that literally dozens of awesome independent labels are headquartered in Chicago - such as Touch-and-Go, Bloodshot, and Thrill Jockeys - that doesn't hurt either.
The Empty Bottle has a fairly diverse selection of beers on tap - but (cheap) PBR is king here - and usually outsells all other drinks put together. Show prices are reasonable, ranging between $7-$20. Check out the Empty Bottle's website for a calendar of upcoming shows.
