C-House
Something’s fishy at the Affinia Hotel in the Gold Coast neighborhood, and it’s the new seafood and chophouse by Chef Marcus Samuelsson. This neutral space is festooned with clean lines to accompany C-House’s light cuisine. Within the restaurant is C-Bar, a raw bar, and the C-View lounge located on the 29th floor, which is open year-round. On the menu: little neck clams, lobster, and Jonah crab claws at the C-Bar; whole branzino for two, grilled with three sauces to choose from. 166 E. Superior St., 312-523-0923.
Piccolo Sogno
When the folks at Piccolo Sogno, a new River West Italian eatery, say they serve authentic cuisine, they don’t only mean real Italian recipes, but authentic ingredients brought over from the old country. Chef Tony Priolo flies in tomatoes from San Marzano, buffalo mozzarella from Naples, and many other items from cities across Italy, as well as locally grown produce from Chicago’s Green
Acres Farm. On the menu: four cheese ravioli with pine nuts, butter, topped with a Marsala glaze and sprinkled with shavings of parmesan. 464 N. Halsted St., 312-421-0077.
Park 52
Color and comfort describes Hyde Park’s latest cookery, Park 52. With walls adorned with firered drapes and ceilings bedecked with bright massive light fixtures, this space screams with excitement. On the menu: chilled sweet pea soup laced with a hint of mint and topped with a touch of crispy potato and English breakfast radish; tuna tartare with sweet onion marmalade and dusted with orange tobikko caviar.
