More about Auditorium Theatre...
Short Description:
The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University has evolved over the years from rock and roll concerts to musicals to ballets.
Full Details:
This theatre has seen the graces of amazing people such as President Roosevelt, Jimi Hendrix, Elton John, and even Frank Sinatra. The building itself is a national landmark that the University is committed to preserving. Although the theatre first opened in 1889 as a grand opera house, it eventually fell into disrepair. Then, in the 1960s, it was once again restored to its natural state. Since then, it has continually reinvented itself especially when rock and roll first hit the American scene.
Tours:
Tours of the theatre are available on Mondays at 10am and noon. Call 312-431-2389 ext 0.
