Stop by for lunch--panini, croissants and quiche make the menu. Or, tempt your sweet tooth with a lemon custard tart, the tiramisu, an apricot danish, or a slice of cappuccino cheesecake. Pastry chef and owner Bernard Runo went to culinary school in France and specialized in pastries. He was the executive pastry chef in several Chicago hotels, including the Ritz-Carlton, before he decided to open his own shop.
Runo's French influence is hard to miss--the menu features traditional brioche and the croque-monsieur sandwich. But, American classics like cinnamon rolls and apple pie make the menu, too. Sweet Thang's elaborate specialty cakes are made to order, from wedding cakes to a solar system cake.
