The Chicago Theatre opened in 1921 and was considered the the first large and lavish movie place. The decor and design is in the style of French Baroque. In face, the lobby is modeled after the Royal Chapel in Versailles. The auditorium is 7 stories high and can seat 3,600 people. Within the theatre's rich history, it has seen the personalities of Aretha Franklin, Allman Brothers Band, Ellen DeGeneres, and Prince...just to name a few.
