The Chicago Toy and Game Fair Celebrates 10 Years

Just in time to kick off your Christmas shopping, the 10th Annual Chicago Toy and Game Fair will be held at Navy Pier this year on Saturday and Sunday, November 17-18. Over 70 exhibitors, from around the world, will display the newest toys and games. It is the largest fair of its kind in the United States, and it's their mission to encourage and promote the power and joy of invention in social, educational, and professional environments.

So Much to Do at the Toy and Game Fair

In addition to the myriad of exhibits, there will also be many special events. Here are just a few:

· Star Wars Character Lunch- Saturday 12:00-1:00

Have lunch with your favorite characters from Star Wars 501st Legion. The ticket price is $30/child and $36/adult and includes daily admission to exhibits as well as special prizes and giveaways.

· Settlers of Catan National Pre-Qualifier-

Win a seat at the Catan North American Championship at GenCon 2013, including registration, hotel, and 3-day admission badge. Scheduled times have yet to be announced, but admission is free.

· Girl Scouts Attempt a World Record- Saturday 3:00 pm

Scouts in uniform receive free admission to the fair and will try to set the world’s record for “Most People Playing a Card Game at the Same Time in the Same City.” Each scout will receive a Top Trumps Moshi Monsters participation patch! (see website for details about registration).

· Young Inventor Challenge- Saturday All Day

Free to boys and girls age 6-18, they are challenged to exhibit their own original toy or game invention. A Best of Show winner and one runner-up in both Junior and Senior categories will be selected by members of the United Inventors Association of America. There will also be a People’s Choice Award determined by the votes of the expected 20,000 attendees. Manufacturers will be looking for that next great toy or game.

· Top Trumps Tournament- Sunday 1:00 pm

All pre-registered participants will receive prizes valued at $35.00; the tournament is open to children ages 6-14.

· Bring Your Grandparents Day- Sunday All Day

Free admission to all grandparents when accompanied by their grandchildren.
