This year’s Magnificent Mile Light Festival will be bigger, better and brighter than pervious years! Begin the holidays with a Chicago tradition and a little magic at the 21st annual BMO Harris Bank Magnificent Mile Light Festival on November 17, 2012. The family-friendly day features shopping on the Magnificent Mile, musical performances, beloved characters from Walt Disney World resort in Florida and beautifully decorated parade floats. More than one million lights will decorate 200 trees on North Michigan Avenue to put all of Chicago into the holiday mood.
Lights Festival Lane
Beginning at 11 am to 5 pm explore booths in the Pioneer Court (401 N. Michigan Ave). At the booths, decorate a slice of Eli’s Cheesecake, enjoy a bag of Garrett Popcorn Shop’s famous Chicago Mix, take a photo with Santa and so much more! While over in the Pioneer Court experience exciting and live performances at the BMO Harris Bank Stage.
BMO Harris Bank State Schedule - Radio Disney Concert
Rock out to Radio Disney AM 1300 Chicago Concert featuring some of Disney’s up-and-coming stars. On Saturday, from 11 am to 3:45 pm this family-friendly event will feature Olivia Holt from Disney XD show “Kickin’ It” and Disney channel original movie “Girl vs Monster,” Shane Harper a Emmy nominated singer and star of “Good Luck Charlie,” Colton Dixon finalist from American Idol Season 11, R5, Justin Roberts and Not Ready for Naptime Players.
Tree Light Parade
Watch millions of illuminated lights while celebrating the holiday season taking place from Oat Street to Wacker Drive beginning at 5:30 pm. See some famous characters on magnificently decorated floats. Mickey and Minnie Mouse will make an appearance as the parade grand marshals for the third year in a row as they lead the Tree Lighting Parade of 40 floats, helium-filled balloons, marching bands, classic characters from Walt Disney World and Resort. Bella Thorne from Disney Channel original series “Shake It Up” will also perform.
See some extraordinary floats including Santa Claus gliding over the crowds on the John Hancock Observatory float, Hubert the Lion on the BMO Harris Bank float, the mouth-watering smell of the Garrett Popcorn float and a float make entirely of candy called the Candyality.
End the day with a stunning 10,000 homemade fireworks display by Lumina over the Chicago River from 6 pm to 7 pm.
Can’t make it to the Chicago? No worries. The event will be nationally televised on Saturday, November 17 from 6 pm to 7 pm CST. Locally the event can be seen on ABC7 Chicago and also on 65 other channels around the country.
