Some true musical superstars have been making their way through Chicago lately, but more often than not you can find great music from the city’s own homegrown talent. One of the city’s most character-filled neighborhoods is highlighting these great musicians.

Chillfest is back in Wicker Park and Bucktown with over 100 artists performing living-room style sets across the neighborhoods. Not only is this a great opportunity to get to know some of the local musicians, but they will be performing at some of the quintessential eateries, shops, bars, and venues in the area like Jackson Junge Gallery, Belly Shack, 826Chi, Emporium Arcade Bar, and more.

At the big venues like the United Center it’s easy to assume that the talent is great by all the theatrics involved, but true artistry can easily be seen when you’re only five feet way from the artist and their only tool is an acoustic guitar. Here are some musicians you should check out at Chillfest:

Brian Doherty
Joe’s Wine Cellar, 2108 W. Division St.
5 p.m.

Pearl
Coast Sushi, 2045 N. Damen Ave.

Radiance Fine Jewelry, 2139 N. Damen Ave.

Justin Purtill
Shinola, 1619 N. Damen Ave.

Chillfest 20145 kicks off Saturday, Nov. 14 from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. For information on all the artists, venues, and tickets to the after party visit chillfestchicago.com.
