Chicago transit may seem daunting, but the city was set up on a simple grid system with State Street dividing East and West coordinates and Madison Street dividing North and South. Miles are divided into segments of 800, so for example, Chicago Avenue at 800 North is one mile North of Madision Street. If you prefer to ride rather than walk, taxis are plentiful and the Chicago Transit Authority makes it easy, especially the "L" train, is simple and inexpensive to use. The "L" also runs to both Midway and O'Hare Airports. Check out our Chicago Transportation Guide below to make getting around Chicago easy!
