A look at some top Chicago dance performances and companies is on tap here. Chicago dance fans never had it so good.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago (HSDC) is one of the most original forces in contemporary dance today. The company features an ensemble of dancers led by artistic director Jim Vincent, and presents innovative and energetic performances in Chicago and around the world. Don't miss HSDC's 2008 Spring Series (through April 5) at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance at Millennnium Park. Tickets range from $25 to $85.

The American Ballet Theatre (ABT) presents "Sleeping Beauty" at the Civic Opera House April 9-13. ABT made its debut in 1939 in New York and, since then, has toured all over the world with its crew of accomplished dancers. Artistic director Kevin McKenzie has choreographed this enduring ballet, which encompasses all the beauty, evil, and love that one could expect from this classic fairy tale. Tickets run $30-$110 and can be purchased through seechicagodance.com.

The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company will perform "Chapel/Chapter" at the Museum of Contemporary Art April 9-12. The company is a combination of dance and theater, and this latest performance will be a graphic story of ethics, humanity, and violence. The performance will contain three dramatic stories, two being well-known media stories. The show includes a live music ensemble from contemporary musicians, a voicestrumentalist, a singer, a celliMuseum of Contemporary Artst, a soprano, and--lastly--, a classic singer. Tickets are $28-$40.

Riverdance will play five farewell performances at the Paramount Theatre in Aurora. Be sure to catch this explosion of Irish music and dance performed by the Boyne Company from April 11-13. This unique dance experience captivates audiences with tapping toes and flailing legs. Tickets cost $45, $55, and $65.

The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (AAADT) will be returning once again to the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University from April 16-20. This acclaimed modern dance company, which promotes the individuality of African American culture, will present different performances each night, including "The Road of the Phoebe snow," "Firebird," "Revelations," and "Flowers." Tickets for this event run from $30 up to $79.

Museum of Contemporary Art

The museum boasts one of the largest facilities in the country devoted to modern art. The Museum of Contemporary Art showcase sculptures, paintings, photography, video, film and performances. Admission is $6- $10.

Paramount Theatre
23 East Galena Boulevard, Aurora, IL 60506

This theater located in Aurora was the first air-conditioned building outside of Chicago and has been putting on shows for the last 76 years.

Auditorium Theatre
50 E. Congress Pkwy., Chicago, IL 60605

The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University has evolved over the years from rock and roll concerts to musicals to ballets.
